Is Barack Obama Electable? Latest Election Polls
Barack Obama is one of the classiest and most eloquent of the presidential candidates but all sorts of questions are being raised about whether or not he is electable. There are a couple of issues that he has to face. The first is that he is an African-American. And the second is that his father was a Muslim despite him being a Christian.
Religion and race are factors that should not matter but the latest polls still show that as high as 30% of America will never vote for a Muslim. There is a smaller group of about 10% that would never vote for an African-American. But reality is probably a bit more than just the 10% because many people are probably embarrassed or shy to say so.
So if you are voting in the Democratic primaries, pay attention on overall electability. Although it is important that you get the best candidate for your party, it is always more important that your nominee becomes the next president.
I am certain that the majority of Obama supporters are going to be closely following the news to see how he stacks up against the Republican candidate. And then they will make their decision. But I will offer them one word of advise. Do not keep yourself from voting him if you believe that he is the best candidate. Because you need to make it clear that race does not matter anymore. And besides, if he runs, and there are 10% of people that would never bring themselves to vote for him, the minority vote probably increases by that 10% anyways.
